Is it possible for me to upload the firmware of a 6G to iPodWizard, change some strings manually and then write the firmware to the iPod??? Will it brick? I'm nervous...

No, it's encrypted and you can't do it until someone decrypts it

brandon, it is encrypted. but there are strings that can be edited. they are the only thing that loads in the firmware. unfortuately, they are probably useless, or they could possibly brick your ipod. and, even if you changed them to something usefull, ipodwizard probably wouldnt be able to write it back to the classic. sorry.

There is a way to do it I will make a firmware sometime and ask you to test it but it is not my fault if it bricks.

no it probably wont brick it if I do it right you see i am going to edit the firmware in a hex editor and I will upload it back in the .ipsw then you load the installer into iTunes if it does brick you could send it back to apple or the store you bought it at cause if it is bricked then no one can tell unless you get a shitty brick like mine or legends then it SUCKS BALLS

Zim, how are you planning on getting it working with a hex editor?

It has the same (encrypted) data available to it that ipw does, it wont be any different.

Unless its been decrypted, but iv not heard anything about it yet
