Default Burnt out Backlight?!

Okay, so i was using multiple hacks on my ipod (it doesn't matter except that i modded the firmware) and one morning the whole top right hand corner of my screen had hella burnt out backlight pixels (i know tis because i looked at it w/out the backlight and it was normal.

I've had this happen before, so i did what i usually do: update the firmware through itunes - and for some unknown reason, this fixes it.

Well, i tried to do this again, but the splattered burnt pixels were extra plentiful - so only like 3/4 of them went away. And this is what im left with:

So can anybody tell me why this happens in the first place - and if they found a way to fix it permanently??

It shouldnt be the backlight cos its just a bunch of led's behind the screen, not each pixel...
but then you say you cant see the problem with backlight off...

Seems very strange. From the photos it looks like somethings got into your ipod and died

Yeah, actually, i just put on the zune hack, and its still there, but even smaller.

its weird because, even when the apple logo is booting up you can see the grey.

I'd recommend getting a new LCD if it really bothers you.

Look, after putting on the zune theme, it looks like this:
the point it, it got better. A LOT BETTER.
Before it was taking up like 1/5 of the screen in that corner, and it was splattered everywhere.

Unless your iPod is still under warranty, which it probably isn't.

The pixels seem to be just stuck if some have started working. Do you have any videos that flash lots of colours? You probably dont, but if you find one (youtube maybe?) play it on your ipod for a while, it might unstick them
