Default Downgrading 1.1.3 to 1.1.1

Downgrading Firmware 1.1.3 to 1.1.1

Well, I have been asked by multiple people on how to downgrade from 1.1.3 to 1.1.1 because of either accidentally downloading this firmware or just out of curiousity to see what the new firmware had in store. Well most people that have tried to downgrade have found that an error occurs when trying to do so... so I'll give you a short tutorial on how to fix this problem.

*Note* By doing this you will lose all your songs videos etc. on your ipot and you will have to re-add them later

You Will Need:
  • Firmware 1.1.1
  • 1.1.3_downgrade.rar file (included in post)
  • iTunes (...)

Downgrading

1- You will need "1.1.3_downgrade.rar" file, which I will include in post.

2- Extract it to a destination you can remember (eg. Desktop) with your favourite extracting program.

3- Now go to where you extracted the .rar file and you should see a folder called 1.1.3 downgrade. Open it and inside you will see a number of different things just click on "iphuc.exe" and a command prompt will come up.

[Make sure your IpoT is connected to your computer]
4- In the first line of the command prompt type "enterrecovery" and your ipot should restart and the iTunes Logo along with a cord will show up on your screen.

5- For the next command type "filecopytophone WTF.s5l8900xall.RELEASE.dfu" (capitals DO matter!)

6- Then type "cmd go" now this command should not have any lag time but, because of problems some people have had it seems that if you wait a few minutes (like 5mins or so) before closing the cmd prompt it works better

7- After about 5 minutes, close the command prompt and go into iTunes then, Press Shift + Click on "Restore" and find IpoT Firmware 1.1.1... click on it and wait for the download to be complete. If all went well you have successfully downgraded to 1.1.1

8- You can now jailbreak or w/e OktoPrep and so on and so forth....

All these steps are also available in the readme file included in the "1.1.3_downgrade.rar". If you find it easier to use the readme.. by all means use that.

Yup, all you need to do is skip the begining steps...

Find the 1.1.1 Firmware -> Go into iTunes -> Shift + Click "Check For Updates" or it might be called "Update" -> Browse and find 1.1.1 Firmware on your computer and wait for downgrade to be complete

Just that 1.1.3 they tried to disable downgrading.

This guy is awesome, I've watched almost all of his videos. I don't have my iPot YET but about 3 weeks(Feb. 10th). No doubt when I get mine I'm going to donate to this guy. He's been a tremendous help, with just about everything. Not just jailbreaking.

Well, that error occurs when you don't use iphuc to restore a non-jailbroken 1.1.3 to a lower firmware. If you follwed the instructions exactly the error will go away; make sure you also spell everything EXACTLY...
