Default Program to clean up my mac?

I am relatively new to my iMac and on windows there is disk defragment and disk cleanup to make your PC run faster, are there any of these things on the mac or external programs to clean it up every once and a while?

Macs don't really need to be defragmented, OS X will automaticly do it for you, if you juts wanna clean up large files from your computer, I suggest using a program called Grand Prespetive ( http://grandperspectiv.sourceforge.net/ ) it will let you view the files on your computer as blocks, the larger they are, the larger the block, then you can just delete anything that is useless and too big

What's also nice to have is ONYX oder TinkerTool, it'll clean up behind the scenes, and has - in my case - helped to solve a few small problems one in a while. Just go to www.versiontracker.com an search for them. They're freeware. You can also use them to access and/or change (hidden) features in OS X.

I'll tell you now, OS X is a lot better organized then Windows. OS X isn't formated in NTFS or FAT32, so there's no need to defragmente it.

Disk Defragmenter and Disk Cleanup are pretty much useless.

I agree with Matthew 98, but the "tools" I mentioned aren't really defragmenting ir somethign similar. They'll let you change settings, to make OS X even faster or they'll do resetting of spotlight and other built-in little programs in case you experience difficulties.

Anyways, though I don't use Onyx and Tinkertool very often, I wouldn't wanna live without 'em. They're just like swiss army knives to any mac user.

Cheers, Weasel

Use CleanApp it can delete programs in its entirety (not just the application, but the configuration files in other directories for you). And Moolingual to remove apps, for example my Quicktime folder was 60 MB, but after I delete the languages I didn't need it went down to a whopping 9 MB.
