Default iATKOS 1.0i, my review.

Well, just got iATKOS 1.0i installed and updated. First thoughts: Wow.
Much easier to install than ToH, and has the PC EFI bootsystem built in, so my entire system is unmodified, except for the kernel, since it takes a Core 2 Duo to have it work (and I'm running a Pentium D).

The installation took me about 30 minutes, and about the same for updates, bring the total amount of the install to approximately 1 hour. Very good, in reality, as it would take almost that long to install Leopard on a genuine Mac.

First Thoughts:
- Reminds me a lot of the ToH release. (The base, since they are both Leopard.)
- Booted and installed in half the time of ToH (Major improvement.)
- Updated with no problems.
- Contained all drivers I needed, minus my sound card (Sigmatel, easy fix.)

I really can't complain much about this release, as I've only been running it for around 30 minutes before writing this. I've had no problems thus far, and the majority of OSx86 problems are during the installation. I'll continue to update this thread as I use the system more and more, but I wouldn't expect this list to get much longer.

Current Complaints:
- Nothing major, but the developers decided to modify the 'About This Mac' window, as you will see in my screenshot. Easy fix, but annoying if anything.
- Default background not included: It was replaced by a different image; again, so idea why, but it's easily fixed.

Images:

Overall, so far iATKOS seems from my viewpoint the way to go if you're looking to get into the OSx86 scene with Leopard.
Any questions? Ask me here. I'll do my best to help.

Instructions to Fix About This Mac:
As I'd mentioned in the first post, one of the few things that bothered me about this release was the modified 'About This Mac' window. I also mentioned that it is easily fixed.
For those of you who decide to use iATKOS, here is what you need to fix it.

I've attached 2 files, which are both required to make the window look like the original.
It's fairly simple to install them.

Put SystemVersion.plist in /System/Library/CoreServices
And put loginwindow.app in /System/Library/CoreServices

Success. You now have the default OSX About This Mac window!
Enjoy it.
Attached Files
File Type: zip loginwindow.zip (527.8 KB, 14 views)
File Type: plist SystemVersion.plist (485 Bytes, 9 views)
