This will get you the previous App Pack for free (Mail, Weather, Notes, Stocks, and Maps).
This works for Mac and PC.
This is the direct download from the Apple servers. Therefore, this is legal.
If you use Safari, go to Preferences and uncheck "Open 'safe' files after downloading" before you click the link.

~TUTORIAL~ 1. Make sure you are running iTunes 7.7 or later and have either software version 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3, or 1.1.4 installed on your iPod.
2. Navigate to this link:
http://content.info.apple.com/Protec...7_Restore.ipsw and download it to your desktop.
There are other ways to download iPod1,1_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw, but I can't give out links here, search Google. DO NOT PM ME.
This will currently take longer than normal (unless you use DownThemAll, see below) to download because so many people are downloading it.
**If you use the
DownThemAll plugin for Firefox for Step 1, it will greatly increase speeds.**
3. Open up iTunes and then Option-Click (Mac) or Shift-Click (Windows) the Update button, or the Restore button if you want to restore your iPod. Navigate to your 2.0 update you just downloaded and open it.
Don't freak if it takes a few minutes to get started, because it did for me, but then it worked. Now you should now be installing 2.0!
4. After a few minutes, a message should pop up saying your iPod will restart. When it does set up your iPod in iTunes, then slide to unlock and you should see the App Store and all the iPhone Apps!

Try restoring your iPod to 1.1.4 and restarting your computer, then try again.

It has been 'Preparing iPod for restore' for a few minutes now. What should I do?
|
Don't do anything. It should take about 5-15 minutes to prepare for the update, depending on yuor computer speed. If it takes longer than 30-40 minutes to start updating, something is wrong.
