Mods:Sorry if this is in the wrong spot.

Anyways my brother got an Xbox 360 for Christmas and he wanted to do a system update. We burned the file to a DVD twice and it still didn't work! We put the dvd in the 360 and it didn't do nothing? Any suggestions?

system update ? Is it when before you run a game it says a new version of [...] is available ? ?
I did a system update but I never used a DVD, only downloaded it from xbox LIVE...

My assumption is he doesn't have a place to plug his xbox into a network.
If possible, it's much easier to just move a tv and your xbox into your room with your computer, and steal its connection for a few minutes.

ya you cant use a DVD to install the update unless you have a modded 360 (i assume you dont) so as driven said just bring you xbox into the room with the computer plug it in and let it update. or you can buy one of those 50 ft long ethernet cables they sell at best buy.

Seems you know what your talking about

I have a labtop with an ethernet cabel in the back and if I plug the ethernet cabel into my brothers 360 would that work or not? Or do I have to buy the network adapter

or buy a 50 foot cabel

Nevermind he found a Network Adapter online on Ebay for $10. Thanks anyways.
