UGH WTF!!! Downloads disappearing

UGH!!!! every time it try to download something it finishes downloading and then it just disappears. this is pissing me off soooooo bad. does anyone know why this is happening? I have a windows vista home premium computer and my default browser is ff3 (although i know it isn't the browser cuz neither safari or IE worked)

How does it disappear? The default location for downloaded files in Firefox is the desktop. You can change that by going to Tools>Options>Main>Downloads. I still didn't get the disappearing part though.
