well it depends what u want more.i'll try to brake it down for u
slim psp


Lots of gaming. very nice graphics, cool games etc.....
emulation for almost every system except for ps3 360 wii, ds, ps2 , xbox
lots of homebrew
highly customizable. ( a wider range if u hack the psp)
music
videos
internet
online gaming.
u have to get a memory stick ( they are not so expensive. like 80 or 90 for an 8 gig. and that is alot. like a lot

Touch
touchscreen.
emulation for a few systems. i'm not exactly sure what they are. same exceptions though as the psp

music
video
internet
memory inside'

no gaming experience like on the psp
no online gaming.
customizable but not as much as the psp.


the homebrew and customization is based on whether u hack the touch or psp. the psp is still customizable if its not hacked but it can be customized to have a totally different menu if u hack it .

personally i would go with a psp. i have a slim psp.

well apple is making a new iphone in june and since the itouch is basically the same thing, id say they will be coming out with a new itouch soon.
anyway i have a psp (not slim) but the interface and everything are the same as the slim and i can tell you i never use it. the screen is horrable and with the smallest amount of sunlight you cant see anything-this means no psp in car rides, which is where you want it. the internet is nice but it takes years to type addresses. itouch internet is a million times better. it all comes down to gaming. psp obviously has better more advanced games BUT now that the sdk is out lots of companys like ea are gonna make nice big games for the iphone and itouch. plus the itouch will allwys have smaller free games if you jailbreak it. im dying to get an ipod touch but im waiting for the next one.

a new psp is unlikely to happen anytime soon since the slim has only been out for a bit less than a year. so if ur gonna buy a psp don't wait for a newer psp to come out.

the screen cannot be seen only in the sunlight. but u can see the screen in car rides.the slim psp's screen is also better than the old one. the 4th brightness setting for the original is like the 3rd brightness setting for the slim. the brightest setting for the psp is unlockable using a homebrew program.
i think a screen protector can solve that problem. the touch has a slightly better screen.

for the typing issue on the psp, u will get used to it. soon u will type out words in a few seconds. You can also bookmark so that u don't have to type the address all the time. i heard a lot of ppl have problems with the typing on the touch. not good response or its annoying i'm not sure.

still gaming for the touch will take a long time to catch up to the psp. homebrew games are also on the psp if u didn't know that. it started with the psp. psp has more stuff to it. its just amazing if u hack it.

don't forget that u can get SKYPE on your psp. (slim psp not phat psp)
