Uncup Volume On all non-US ipod

Ipod classic, Nano 2nd gen, Nano 3rd gen, touch, iphone are not supported - SHuffle's are not capped

In this tutorial i will be showing you how to make the volume of your non-US ipod as loud as a US ipod on a windows pc. This can be done on other operating sytems however the hex editer you use must be able to edit hard disks directly.

If you have a 1g or 2g ipod you should use ipod wizard tweaks

If you have an 3g ,4g, photo, mini 1st gen nano or 5g ipod you should use http://gopod.free-go.net/

If you have a 5.5g you should read this tutorial


1. Download and install HXD http://www.mh-nexus.de/downloads.php?product=HxD

2. Plug in ipod into your computer and close any programs accessing it such as itunes

3. Launch HXD

this process must be repeated everytime you update your ipod with itunes or write a firmware to it with ipodwizard or any other ipod hacking tool

US ipods are louder??? mine isn't loud enough and it is un US ipod!

what about 6th gen classic is it also not loud as us 6th gen classic?
if the us is louder maybe u can write a tutorila for the 6th gen too here?

6th gens and nano 3rd gens volumes are significantly lower than the 5th gen ipod

and if you would have read the beginning of the tutorial it says that ipod classic is not supported

well i heard that the sound is better on US-ipods so i would uncap it and then change the max volume (theres an option)
and if u use a hacked firmware i think u have an "US-ipod" because u use a US-firmware.... correct me if im wrong

i also noticed the sound quality is better when i uncapped my 80gb 5.5g but i dont have no supporting evidence so i never added that to this tutorial.

And no when you apply a hack that is based on a us firmware your ipod doesnt become louder as the firmware checks the serial number of the ipod and decides what region its from and if it should be capped. Due to this you have to uncapp the ipod everytime you update the firmware as it will automatically cap your ipod.
